BEL Over-Spray Sampling Guide

Materials - Single Edge Razor Blades - DI Water - Alcohol - Aluminum Foil - Ziploc Plastic Bag

1. Clean window/windshield area to be sampled with alcohol and/or DI water to remove dirt and debris.
   
2. Clean razor blades with alcohol to remove oils from blade.
   
3. Using razor blade, scrape window/windshield area with vertical motion two to three swipes. Repeat with another blade.
   
4. Place razor blade(s) with overspray into Aluminum foil and enclose blade fully. Place Aluminum foil into a plastic bag.
   
5. Obtain references from suspected sources from the areas where the suspect material was applied. In cases where samples of the suspect material are inaccessible, samples of the mixed paint can be used or, if necessary, we can mix and cure the suspect paint material in-house for comparison to the overspray.
